Kenyan man to be extradited to US for child porn

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A Kenyan court has ordered the extradition of a Kenyan man to the U.S. to face trial for child pornography.

Magistrate Enock Cherono Monday ruled Brian Musomba Maweu, also known as Catfish, to be handed over to the FBI within 21 days.

Maweu’s extradition proceedings began after the FBI discovered a membership child-porn website which he is alleged to have operated.

An international arrest warrant was issued in March against him and the United States Department of Justice, through the U.S. embassy in Nairobi, requested the Kenyan government to arrest and hand him over.

Victor Mule, an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, said Maweu had been indicted before the United States District Court in Louisiana for engaging in a “child exploitation enterprise and the distribution of child pornography.”
