WASHINGTON — The $1 million winner of Wednesday’s Powerball has yet to come forward after buying the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven in Springfield, Va.
The March 5 winner is the second in the last month to win $1 million in Virginia. On Feb. 6, Megan McCormick, of Alexandria, claimed her prize after buying a winning ticket in Arlington, according to the Virginia Lottery.
The mystery winner joins a large group of recent winners in the state. In the last 13 months, 11 people have won $1 million each, one person won $2 million, and another person won the jackpot, a whopping $217 million.
There was no jackpot in the March 5 drawing, the Virginia Lottery says.
The winning ticket was bought at the 7-Eleven at 6221 Rolling Road. The winning numbers were 3-7-9-26-54 with the Powerball number 19. The winning ticket matched the first five numbers, missing only the Powerball number, the Virginia Lottery says.
The winner has 180 days to claim their prize, but the Virginia Lottery cautions the first thing that person should do is sign the back of their ticket to establish ownership.
