CVS opens two D.C. MinuteClinics, plans 2 for Va.

CVS Caremark Corp. has opened two more MinuteClinic locations, one in Glover Park and another in West End.

I first told you about them last November.

The clinics are the company’s sixth such in-store clinics in the District, where no further openings are planned this year, according to a spokesman. However, CVS Caremark will open MinuteClinic operations in Bristow and Falls Church in the fourth quarter.

All told, CVS operates 35 clinics in greater Washington. CVS and its competitors — both for-profit and nonprofit — fight for the business of patients who need medical attention but don’t want to navigate large hospital campuses or schedule an appointment.

MinuteClinic stores don’t require appointments and accept direct cash and credit payments, in addition to insurance.
