Stocks edge higher…Postal Service to deliver packages on Sunday for holidays…More air travel expected this Thanksgiving

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are slightly higher in afternoon trading on Wall Street, a day after a record-high close for the Dow and the S&P 500. Traders are cautious ahead of tomorrow’s monthly jobs report. Whole Foods Market jumped 10 percent, the most in the S&P 500 index, after reporting earnings that came in well ahead of what investors were expecting.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service will deliver packages on Sundays in major cities and high volume areas during the holiday season. Seven-day delivery will run from Nov. 17 through Christmas Day in response to anticipated growing demands. The agency expects a 12 percent growth in its package business this holiday season. The Postal Service says demand for package services has grown as online retailers ship more products to their customers.

UNDATED (AP) — U.S. airlines expect to carry 24.6 million passengers from Friday, Nov. 21 through Tuesday, Dec. 2. The forecast for the 12 days surrounding Thanksgiving is up 1.5 percent from last year, according to trade group Airlines for America. The worst day is expected to be Sunday, Nov. 30, with 2.6 million people flying on U.S. airlines.

UNDATED (AP) — Security software provider Palo Alto Networks says it has discovered a new form of malware that may have affected hundreds of thousands of Apple mobile device users, largely in China. The company is calling the malware WireLurker and says it monitors devices connected by a USB cable to an infected computer and installs malicious applications onto the device. Apple says it’s aware of the malicious software, and it has blocked the apps to prevent them from launching.

NEW YORK (AP) — CBS News says its coverage is now available through a digital streaming network that features live, anchored coverage 15 hours each weekday. The ad-supported network, called CBSN, launched today. It is available around the clock on Internet-connected TVs, mobile phones and other devices.
