Navy to give public tours of 3 warships in Va.

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Navy is inviting the public to come aboard and tour three of its warships in Virginia.

The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and the guided-missile destroyers USS Gravely and USS Gonzalez will be open to public viewing on Oct. 18.

The tours at Naval Station Norfolk are part of Fleet Week Hampton Roads.

The Navy says all guests and vehicles will be subject to searches and that guests shouldn’t bring large bags and backpacks.

As part of the event, the Navy will also have live entertainment, a car show and a chili cook-off.
