Young, healthy D.C. residents sign up for health care

WASHINGTON – Unlike some other areas of the country, young people make up a strong portion of people signed up for health care under Obamacare in D.C.

About 38 percent of enrollees in D.C. are between ages 26 – 34, according to Mila Kofman, executive director of D.C. Health Link. Kofman credits outreach aimed specifically at young, healthy people.

The federal Health and Human Services Department released numbers Thursday revealing 8 million Americans enrolled in a health plan through the new insurance markets.
