Rockville school reopened following sewer blockage

WASHINGTON – Magruder High School in Rockville has reopened after several students and teachers became ill following complaints of a gas odor.

A spokesman from Washington Gas says the source of the odor was a blocked sewer trap not a gas leak.

Seven students and two teachers reported feeling nauseous due to the smell. They were taken to the hospital.

Montgomery County fire officials say they responded to the high school after 2 p.m.

Montgomery County fire officials also responded to the school around 6:30 a.m. Thursday due to complaints of a gas odor.

Officials believe the smell was due to the blocked sewer trap.
