Boy ‘apparently’ an Internet star after interview

HONESDALE, Pa. (AP) — A 5-year-old boy’s lively TV interview at a Pennsylvania county fair, punctuated by his frequent use of the word “apparently,” has turned him into an Internet sensation.

Noah Ritter grabbed the microphone from a WNEP-TV reporter interviewing him at the Wayne County Fair and delivered an entertaining monologue in which he used “apparently” seven times in less than a minute.

Confessing he’d never been on live TV, Noah said, “I don’t watch the news, because I’m a kid. … Apparently grandpa just gives me the remote after we watch the Powerball.”

The outgoing redhead, who starts kindergarten later this month, went on to say that one ride scared him “half to death” and made him “freak out.”

A video (http://bit.ly/1qQIOIH) of Friday’s interview had been viewed more than 3 million times on YouTube through Wednesday morning, and he’s been making the rounds of network news shows.

“He took the microphone and he started talking,” his grandfather, John Borowski of Wilkes-Barre, said of the star-making interview. “We really thought nothing about it. But over the weekend, it just blossomed.”

Noah, who is staying the summer with his grandparents, explained his reliance on “apparently.”

“I use that when I don’t know what to say,” he told The Citizens’ Voice newspaper of Wilkes-Barre.

“He’s got some big words that he uses all the time,” Borowski said. “When he has nothing else to say, he says ‘apparently.'”

Though his appearance spawned a hashtag on social media — #NoahTheReporter — Noah said he doesn’t plan on a career in television. He wants to become a paleontologist.
