New US magistrate judge for E. Virginia sworn in

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A former federal prosecutor has been sworn in as U.S. magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The court says in a news release that Roderick C. Young was sworn in Tuesday. Young will sit in the court’s Richmond Division.

He formerly served as an assistant U.S. attorney and as assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Richmond. He began his career as an assistant public defender in Portsmouth.

Young is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Law.
