TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — The Tupelo Aquatic Facility will be home to hundreds of swimmers in 2016 after winning a bid to host the USA Swimming Southern Zone Senior Championships.
The championships will be held August 2-6 and will include swimmers between the ages of 15-18.
Center director Amy Kennedy says the event would bring up to 720 swimmers.
The Southern Zone extends from Virginia to the tip of Florida and from there to Texas. Last year’s Southern Zone Senior Championship hosted 582 swimmers and took place in Fort Myers, Florida.
