Defense rocket to be launched from Va. facility

WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (AP) — A Department of Defense rocket is scheduled to be launched from Virginia’s Eastern Shore next month.

The launch of the Terrier-Lynx suborbital rocket is scheduled for Oct. 1 between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. from NASA’s Wallops Island Flight Facility.

October 12 is the backup launch day.

NASA says the rocket may be visible to residents in the Chesapeake Bay region.

The NASA Visitor Center at Wallops won’t be open for viewing the launch. Real-time launch status updates won’t be will be available.

NASA also says in a news release that the launch won’t be shown live on the Internet.
