Va. man enters Alford plea in workplace slaying

WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — A Waynesboro man has been convicted of killing a co-worker at a production facility.

WHSV-TV (http://bit.ly/1vbTs0c ) reports that Boyd Wiseman entered Alford pleas to second-degree murder and a felony gun charge on Wednesday in Waynesboro Circuit Court. A sentencing date hasn’t been set.

An Alford plea is one in which a defendant acknowledges there was sufficient evidence for conviction but does not admit guilt.

Police say Wiseman fatally shot 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Earhart of Staunton at an F.D. Drake production facility in Waynesboro on Feb. 27.
