New Jersey boy’s body recovered at beach in Va.

CAPE CHARLES, Va. (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of an 8-year-old boy from New Jersey who went missing in the Chesapeake Bay off Cape Charles Beach.

The Virginia Marine Resources Commission says the boy’s body was found Tuesday on the south end of the beach, near where he went missing.

The boy from Trenton was last seen swimming at the beach Sunday. The boy’s grandmother has said his family was visiting relatives in Chesapeake.

Authorities used side-scan sonar, boats and an airplane as part of the recovery effort.

Cape Charles is on the Chesapeake Bay side of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
