3 face charges in juvenile detention center escape

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office says three teenagers who attempted to escape from the Piedmont Juvenile Detention Center will face criminal charges.

Authorities say two boys, both 17, escaped from the center on Saturday morning. A third boy attempting to escape was detained by staff before exiting the building.

The sheriff’s office says force had been used in the escape. The two who escaped will be charged with conspiracy to escape and felony assault and battery, among other things. The other boy, 15, will be charged with attempted escape, among other things.
