Navy Exchange at NWS Yorktown wins award

YORKTOWN, Va. (AP) — The Navy Exchange at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown has won a Navy award for superior performance.

The exchange was awarded the Bingham Award by the Navy Exchange Service Command.

The Navy says the Bingham Award was created in 1979 to recognize excellence in customer service, operations and management at Navy Exchanges.

The Navy says this is the first time in 23 years that the mini-mart has been recognized with the Bingham Award.

Navy officials the Yorktown facility has expanded space for sports nutrition, tactical gear, sports goods and hydration bottles. It has also added more greeting cards, Navy Pride merchandise and athletic apparel.
