Va. man sentenced in October police standoff

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — A Fredericksburg man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a neighbor and holding police at bay for six hours last October.

The Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/1n6LCOx) reports 50-year-old Michael Allen Bailey was sentenced Wednesday in Fredericksburg Circuit Court for his guilty plea to aggravated malicious wounding, burglary, shooting into an occupied dwelling and firearms charges. As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to 88 years in prison with 68 years suspended.

Court records show Bailey entered a neighbor’s home on Oct. 31 and began shooting. Richard Dovidio was treated at a hospital for gunshot wounds and released.
