Cash, pain medication stolen in N. Va. armed robberies

WASHINGTON – Cash and pain medication were stolen during three northern Virginia robberies over the weekend.

Two of the incidents were armed robberies involving a handgun. The first happened on June 21 at the 7-11 on Darbydale Avenue in Woodbridge. When police arrived around 10:22 p.m., employees told police a masked man came into the store, showed a handgun and demanded money, according to police.

After employees gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, police say he fled on foot. No injuries were reported. The suspect police are searching for is black, between 30 and 45 years old and has a heavy build. He is around 5-feet-11-inches tall, around 220 pounds and was last seen wearing a dark mask and dark clothing.

The second incident occurred at the CVS on Hoadly Road in Manassas. On June 22, employees told police when they arrived around 9:22 a.m. that a man came into the store and went to the pharmacy. Police say he showed a handgun and demanded pain medication, jumping over the counter at one point. Once the man had the medication, he fled in a vehicle.

Police say no injuries were reported. The suspect is black and 5-feet-9-inches tall with a thin build and short black hair. He is estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old with an unshaven face and was last seen wearing a gray hooded Hollister sweatshirt with a white bird/HCO symbol, tan shorts, black tennis shoes and black sunglasses. The vehicle he used to get away was a new two-door red Chevrolet Camaro.

The third incident, a strong-armed robbery, happened on June 23 at the Valero on Trowbridge Drive in Woodbridge. When police responded around 12:36 p.m., employees said a man came in, approached the counter and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled in a white four-door Volkswagen Jetta.

Police say no weapon was shown and no injuries were reported. The suspect is white, between 20 and 30 years old, and 6-feet tall. He is 190 pounds with a medium build and was last seen in a dark sweatshirt with “Brooklyn NY” on the front, dark pants, light-colored shoes without laces, a black-brimmed hat and a towel with white stripes. The towel covered his face.
