Aldie man charged with soliciting area middle school children

WASHINGTON — An Aldie man faces five counts of soliciting area middle school students using a computer.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says that Robert B. Rennie Jr., 43, used Facebook and Skype to connect with Mercer and Lunsford middle school students and their friends.

Police say Rennie presented himself as Kyle Kirts when he initiated contact through Facebook and that the children believed he was also a middle school student.

He would quickly invite the children to talk to him using the internet video conferencing site Skype for what police describe as “sexual reasons,” police say.

Police first learned that children at Mercer Middle School were being solicited from school officials. A parent told the school that their child accepted a friend request from Kyle Kirts and that Kyle then solicited sexual activity from the child.

Several more victims were identified during the investigation, which also revealed that Rennie was the creator and sole user of the Kyle Kirts Facebook account, police say.

Police say Rennie may have contacted friends of the victims through their Facebook pages and may have had contact with children at other area schools.

Parents are asked to call Loudoun Sheriff’s Detective Beaver if their child has had contact with either Kyle Kirts or Rennie at 703-777-0475.

Rennie was charged with the five counts of use of a computer to solicit sexual activity from children who are are younger than 15 last week. He remained in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail Wednesday.
