WASHINGTON — It looks like this year’s edition of the Washington Redskins may not have much to celebrate, but one of their former players has achieved an immortal distinction.
Ray Schoenke, who played on the offensive line for the Skins from 1966 to 1975 (and for the Cowboys from 1963 to 1964), was selected for enshrinement in the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, the museum announced Wednesday. He’s one of six players inducted into the Class of 2015, the second class of enshrines.
Schoenke was a member of the 50th Anniversary Redskins team, and was selected one of the top 100 players in team history in 2002. He is 73 years old and was born in Hawaii.
The induction will be held in January.
