DC holding school beautification day

WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials say nearly 5,000 volunteers are set to spruce up District of Columbia public schools ahead of the first day of class.

Saturday is the annual “Beautification Day” at more than 100 schools throughout the city.

Volunteers will be cleaning, painting, organizing classroom and library materials and doing landscape work from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students return to school on Monday. This is the tenth annual beautification day.
