Laptops stolen from D.C.’s brand new Dunbar High School

WASHINGTON – Officials are looking for suspects in the break-in and theft of laptops at a brand new D.C. high school.

Authorities say a window was smashed at Dunbar High School, located at 101 N St. NW, and three laptops were stolen, according to NBC Washington.

ABC7 reports the theft took place Friday at about 11 p.m.

Last week, D.C. school officials unveiled the $122 million facility, which welcomed students for the first day of school Monday. School officials are touting the use of technology in the new building.

“This building is a great learning environment because of all of the technology that’s in this building that did not exist in the previous building,” Dunbar High School Principal Stephen Jackson says.

ABC7 says authorities have no suspects and are looking at surveillance footage.

Dunbar High School was established in 1870 by poet and novelist Paul Laurence Dunbar and was the nation’s first public high school for African-Americans.
