Md. man charged with assault in possible hate crime

WASHINGTON – A possible hate crime has prompted District police to launch an investigation.

Police responded to the area of 4th and L streets Northwest just before 1 a.m. Friday on the report of an assault, according to a press release.

The victim told First District officers the suspect made derogatory remarks about the victim’s gender identity and then assaulted the victim, police say.

Ahmad Robinson, 29, of Silver Spring was arrested and charged with simple assault. The charge is listed as a hate-motivated offense.
