More than a foot of snow has fallen in parts of Virginia in the wake of superstorm Sandy.

A spring snowstorm is putting a wintry coat on the mountains of far Western Maryland. Maryland State Police in McHenry said Monday morning that 6 inches to 8 inches of snow have fallen in parts of Garrett County.
Those expecting winter weather this weekend were probably disappointed. A slow moving system spread some light rain and snow over the metro region Sunday, but there was no major precipitation.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has unveiled an online tool that will tell residents of Northern Virginia just when the plows will arrive.

The storm made driving during the morning dangerous, but the roads began to clear up by late in the morning, with just side streets to worry about. However, overnight temperatures could cause a refreeze in the morning.
