Region's air quality improves, despite hot summer

Even though there were eight days with temperatures over 100 degrees and 52 days over 90 degrees in 2012 -- making it the third hottest summer on record -- the region only had three Code Red days and 16 Code Orange days.

Temps in the upper 90s: Heat advisory extended to Thursday

The National Weather Service put a heat advisory in effect from noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Temperatures hit the mid- to upper 90s, and felt like 100 to 105 degrees. The forecast calls for another scorcher on Thursday. Another heat advisory goes into effect from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Code Yellow air quality alert issued for Monday

The air quality for Monday has been downgraded from a Code Orange to a Code Yellow.
