Metro modifies work ahead of ‘spring break’

Starting Saturday, March 24, Metro gives the region a break from weekend track work through April 20. Weekday track work will be suspended between March 26 and April 13.

Before you enjoy your official “spring break” from track work, Metro hopes to minimize delays by offering a modified weekday schedule.

Here’s what you need to know:

Red Line

  • Monday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, Red Line trains will single track between Van Ness and Medical Center for NTSB-recommended track circuit module replacement and between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue to allow for D.C. Department of Transporation bridge repairs. Trains will operate every 30 to 35 minutes. Customers should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time.

Orange Line

  • Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, Orange Line trains will single track between Vienna and West Falls Church to allow for rail fastener, tie and insulator renewal. Customers should expect minor delays.
  • Monday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, Orange Line trains will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church to allow for testing associated with the Dulles Rail extension, and between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for platform rehabilitation and repairs to the aerial track. Customers should allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line

  • Monday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, Orange Line trains will single track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for platform rehabilitation and repairs to the aerial track. Customers should allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Green Line

  • Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, trains will single track between College Park and Greenbelt for rail, fastener, tie and insulator renewal. Customers should allow about 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Yellow Line

  • No scheduled work.
