Va. woman charged with plotting to kill 5

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — A Grottoes woman has been charged with trying to hire someone to kill five people.

Harrisonburg police tell media outlets that 33-year-old Heather Lyn Bergen is charged with three counts of solicitation to commit murder and two counts of attempt to commit capital murder/murder for hire.

Berger is accused of trying to hire an undercover officer for the killings. Police say she was arrested Saturday night after she met with the officer and made an initial payment.

Lt. Chris Rush says Berger gave the officer detailed information about the potential victims, including their addresses and vehicle descriptions.

Bergen is being held at the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail. It wasn’t immediately clear whether she has an attorney.
