1 trapped when building collapses in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) — Firefighters are working to rescue a person trapped in a collapsed building across the street from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Fire Department spokesman Ian Brennan says the collapse was reported about 12:35 p.m. Monday of a 2 ½ story rowhouse in the 500 block of South Paca Street.

He says two people were trapped after the collapse, but one managed to escape and was taken to a hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Brennan says firefighters are in communication with the person who is trapped and are preparing to shore up the remains of the building to get inside.

The spokesman says while there was some work being done on the building, the cause of the collapse is unknown.
