BALTIMORE (AP) -- Police say a man shot by an officer he dragged for blocks while fleeing a traffic stop has died.
Baltimore police Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez said officers were in the middle of a traffic stop Wednesday night, when the driver drove off, dragging an officer for several blocks. He says the officer fired shots, striking the driver.
Both the officer and the driver were taken to hospitals and police say the driver, 40-year-old Shawn Dewayne Dean of Baltimore, has died. The officer has been released. Police say a woman in the car was not hurt.
The commissioner has ordered an investigation into the incident.
