BALTIMORE - In a story July 28 on the arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a toddler, The Associated Press, relying on information from several news outlets, erroneously reported that Rashid Mayo was arrested on the campus of Grambling State University in Louisiana.
Police in Ruston, La., say Mayo was arrested in an apartment in that town, not at Grambling.
A corrected version of the story is below:
3rd suspect in killing of toddler arrested in La.
Baltimore police say 3rd suspect in killing of toddler arrested in Louisiana
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say they have arrested a third suspect in the murder of a 1-year-old baby after an investigation that led to Louisiana.
Police say 22-year-old Rashid Mayo was arrested Saturday in Ruston, Louisiana.
Mayo was wanted for first-degree murder in the death of 1-year-old Carter Scott on May 24. The boy and his father were shot as they sat in a car in the Cherry Hill neighborhood. The father, Rashaw Scott, was critically injured. The baby died.
Two other suspects were previously arrested and face murder charges. They are 26-year-old Cornell Harvey and 23-year-old Eddie Tarver.
Police have been searching for Mayo for months. In June, investigators said Mayo might be hiding in New York City or the surrounding area.
