Trash train derails in Baltimore County

Friday - 6/7/2013, 10:10pm  ET

LANSDOWNE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police say a train carrying trash has derailed in Lansdowne.

Cpl. Cathy Batton says the derailment occurred just before 8 p.m. Friday on Hammonds Ferry Road. She said several rail cars were on their sides, but said there were no injuries, fire or hazardous materials.

Last month in Rosedale in Baltimore County, a CSX train carrying a hazardous material derailed after it hit a truck. The collision led to an explosion and fires that caused an untold amount of damage to nearby buildings.
