Feral cat has rabies; county to trap others

Thursday - 4/18/2013, 11:48pm  ET

MILFORD MILL, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County health officials say a cat from a feral colony around Rhonda Court in Milford Mill has died from rabies.

The Department of Health said Thursday that anyone has been exposed to the grey, tan and white cat between March 28 and April 12 should contact the department immediately.

Animal Control officers will try to trap and remove the cats in the colony and urged residents to keep their pets indoors.

Public health officials are reminding residents that feeding stray or feral cats can be dangerous. Cat owners are also reminded that county law requires that cats be licensed and they are not allowed to be at large.
