BALTIMORE (AP) - A historic pipe organ is set to return to a stage in downtown Baltimore after a 42-year hiatus in the suburbs.

The Baltimore Sun reports the 85-year-old Wurlitzer pipe organ is getting a new home at the Engineers Club in Mount Vernon. The instrument once entertained audiences at the State Theatre, a movie theater that closed in the mid-1960s and was later demolished.

Roy Wagner has been tending to vintage organ at his home in Glen Arm, and had been hoping to find a new home for it. Wagner says the organ should belong to the public and believes the new owners will maintain it well.

Wagner says there are fewer than 20 pipe organs in the United States, and 12 are Wurlitzers.
