BALTIMORE - A report on the economic impact of this year's Grand Prix of Baltimore indicates the crowd was smaller than last year's race.

The report, released Thursday, was paid for by Race On LLC, the race organizers.

It estimates more than 131,000 people attended the race, compared with 160,000 last year. Their economic impact on the city was $42.3 million.

Forward Analytics also conducted a study last year paid for by the city. It found $24.9 million in direct spending to the Grand Prix crowd, down from $27.6 million a year ago.

Race organizer J.P. Grant tells The Baltimore Sun ( that a lot was learned in this year's race and he hopes to have tickets for next year's race on sale in time for Christmas.
