EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Angelo Warner scored 17 points, 15 in the second half, as Morehead State beat SIU-Edwardsville 70-63 on Thursday night.
Morehead State led 62-51 with 5:51 to play before SIU-Edwardsville went on a 9-0 run, capped by a five-point possession, to make it a two-point game with 2:39 remaining. Donivine Stewart hit a 3-pointer on that five-point play as Keaton Jackson was fouled away from the ball and made both of his free throws.
SIU-Edwardsville got to within two points on two other occasions down the stretch, but Morehead State had an answer after each one.
Morehead State (10-6, 1-0 Ohio Valley) got 12 points from Drew Kelly. Warner made all five of his field goals in the second half, finished 5 of 13 for the game and converted on 7 of 8 free throws.
Stewart paced SIU-Edwardsville (3-11, 0-1) with 17 points and Jackson added 10.
