CHICAGO (AP) -- Eddie Denard scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half and finished with 10 rebounds, both career-highs, to help Chicago State pull away from SIU-Edwardsville for an 81-64 win Monday night.
Chicago State (5-6) used a 19-5 run midway through the first half to open up a 29-14 lead, but Maurice Wiltz scored seven of his 10 points in the final 4:51 to keep SIU-Edwardsville within striking distance at the intermission, trailing 38-31.
Denard scored eight points in the opening 5:02 of the second half as Chicago State extended its lead back into double-digits at 52-39.
Wiltz's 3-pointer with 13:08 left made it 52-44, but an 8-2 spurt by Chicago State pushed its lead to 14 and SIU-Edwardsville wouldn't challenge again.
Clarke Rosenberg scored a game-high 20 points and Nate Duhon added 19 in the win.
Rozell Nunn paced SIU-Edwardsville with 12 points.
