IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- Devyn Marble scored 22 of his season-high 27 points in the first half as Iowa thumped Abilene Christian in a 103-41 win on Sunday.
Marble scored 15 of the Hawkeyes' first 17 points. Freshman Peter Jok added 15 points for Iowa (4-0). The 62-point win is tied for the fourth-largest margin of victory in Iowa history.
LaDarrien Williams scored 12 points to lead Abilene Christian (0-4).
Marble put on a show in the opening minutes. The senior hit a jumper and swished a pair of 3-pointers for Iowa's first eight points.
A couple minutes later, Marble hauled in a deep pass from teammate Aaron White, then went behind his back to scoot around a defender for the lay-in.
After another Marble layup, the 6-foot-6 guard attacked the basket with a nifty spin move to lose his defender at the elbow. Then Marble adjusted his shot in midair to absorb a foul on the layup, drawing a big reaction from the crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Marble converted the three-point play for his 17th point in only 6 1/2 minutes. He came within four points of tying his career high despite playing only 20 minutes.
The Hawkeyes shot 62 percent from the floor to eclipse the 100-point mark for the second-straight game. Iowa made 9 of 21 3-pointers.
Abilene Christian -- new to Division I this year after playing 31 years in Division II -- is off to its worst start since 1990.
The Wildcats committed 19 turnovers and had only six assists on 14 field goals. Abilene Christian shot just 26 percent, including 3 of 23 3-pointers.
Early in the second half, Marble had more points than Abilene Christian. Iowa's bench finished with 51 points.
Iowa opened the second half on a 32-4 run after leading 46-22 at halftime.
Zach McCabe and Gabe Olaseni each scored 10 points for the Hawkeyes. Aaron White added nine points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes.
Sunday's game was an opening round game in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The Hawkeyes face Xavier on Thanksgiving Day.
