WHAT'S AT STAKE

The Gamecocks went 2-1 on its just concluded three-game road trip to draw within a game of Eastern-division leading Missouri, which still face contests with Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Mississippi State starts a brutal three-game stretch (Texas A&M and Alabama the next two weeks) and hope to open with an upset.
Mississippi State left guard Gabe Jackson vs. South Carolina defensive linemen Jadeveon Clowney and Kelcy Quarles. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound Jackson is considered an NFL first-rounder by some and was picked this week as the SEC offensive lineman of the week. He probably won't get the 6-6, 274-pound Clowney and the 6-4, 298 pound Quarles one-on-one much, but he will likely have to provide help to the Bulldogs' tackles.
