CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Larry Lewis is Virginia's new special teams and running backs coach.
Head coach Mike London says Lewis "has probably been coaching special teams for as long as anyone in college football."
A veteran of 32 seasons as a coach, Lewis was the special teams and running backs coach at Nevada last season, and the Wolf Pack averaged 271 yards rushing, seventh in the nation. Lewis replaces Jeff Banks, who joined the staff Jan. 1 and left nine days later.
Among Lewis' stops during was Washington State, where Banks was one of his players.
