CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia is again looking for a running backs and special teams coach.
Head coach Mike London announced Thursday that Jeff Banks, hired along with three others on Jan. 1, has resigned to pursue another coaching position.
London did not name the job, but says "Knowing the position being presented to Jeff, I understand his desire to pursue that opportunity."
Banks has a long association with Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, who has an opening on his staff for a special teams coach.
Banks, who spent the last nine seasons at UTEP, says he is "very fortunate to have been presented with both of these opportunities in such a short period of time. Ultimately, the opportunity to coach in the SEC with a friend was too hard to pass up."
