Marcus Vick gets 5 days in Va. jail for contempt

Wednesday - 1/9/2013, 3:59pm  ET

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - A judge has sentenced Marcus Vick to five days in jail for failing to produce adequate documentation about his financial status by a court-ordered deadline.

Plaintiff Barbara Ferguson's attorney, Kris Olin, says that the judge sentenced Vick for contempt of court during a telephone conference Wednesday.

Circuit Court Judge Brett Geisler issued a warrant for Vick's arrest. The Carroll County judge was brought in to hear the Montgomery County civil case.

Vick's lawyer, Jimmy Turk, did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Olin has said that Vick signed a $40,000 promissory note in September 2008 but hasn't paid anything.

Vick is the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. He was dropped from the Virginia Tech team in 2006 and released from the Miami Dolphins a year later.
