Woman, 67, killed in Anne Arundel Co. hit and run

WASHINGTON — Police are looking for a driver who ran over and killed an elderly woman using a walker to try to cross the street, then sped away.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard (Maryland Route 648), in Glen Burnie. The Anne Arundel County police say that Linda Suski, 67, of Clara Circle, was headed home from the bus stop near Phyllis Drive. She made it across the northbound lanes before being hit in the southbound lanes. She was knocked into the center lines and her walker was broken into more than a dozen pieces.

Suski was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said the driver slowed down after hitting Suski, but then sped away, running over pieces of the walker in the process.

The vehicle’s driver’s-side mirror broke off from the impact; police say it’s from a white or light-colored Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer from between 1994 and 2000, probably 1996.
