ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The first of eight new stalls opening in Annapolis' historic Market House building is now serving customers.
The Capital of Annapolis (http://bit.ly/13Xs1de ) reports the building that has sat empty for more than a year saw its first guests Thursday when Amsterdam Falafelshop held a soft launch event for invited guests. The shop's original location is in Washington, D.C.
A gelato shop could open next week, and the rest of the vendors are expected to open in July. Officials have not yet set a date for a re-opening event.
Market House has been plagued by problems over the past decade, including damage from Tropical Storm Isabel in 2003 and legal disputes with prior tenants. Officials say they've now improved the air conditioning of the building, which previously could become very hot.
