ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman says she will propose legislation to hire 100 firefighters -- a move that will cost $3 million.
Neuman announced the proposal Wednesday, a day after an arbitrator ruled that county firefighters can keep their one-day-on, three-day-off schedule.
Neuman said the county pays a lot of overtime to provide adequate staffing for all shifts.
Republican County Council Chairman Jerry Walker tells The Capital of Annapolis (http://bit.ly/10Rli4G) that while he understands the need to increase staffing, he wants to be sure the hirings are justified.
