GAMBRILLS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say a woman was killed when the car she was driving failed to negotiate a curve and hit a cement truck in Gambrills.
It happened about 7:45 a.m. Thursday at Waugh Chapel Road and Silver Way. Officers say 18-year-old Alexis Lewis of Crofton was driving her car east on Waugh Chapel Road when it failed to negotiate a curve.
Police say Lewis' car rotated, crossed the double yellow line and hit a cement truck driven by 60-year-old Gerald Carpenter of Annapolis.
Both vehicles then struck a guardrail.
Police saw Lewis was ejected from her car and pronounced dead at the scene. Carpenter was not injured.
Officers say wet and icy roads may have contributed to the crash.
