SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) - A highway in Anne Arundel County has a new crosswalk and lights at the place where a 17-year-old was fatally struck by a car last summer.
The crosswalk and lights were installed on Governor Ritchie Highway after Kara Micciche was killed trying to cross the four-lane highway on July 19, The Annapolis Capital reports. A memorial was held to dedicate the new crosswalk in Severna Park this week.
Micciche's friend, 19-year-old Sean Snyder, was also struck by a car while the pair was trying to cross the highway on their way to the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department carnival. He is still recovering.
The project to install the lights and crosswalk cost $120,000.
