BALTIMORE - Torrential rain flooded roads and homes as storms moved slowly through the Baltimore region.
Baltimore Fire Department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says a mother and four children were evacuated from their home in the 3400 block of Spelman Road when five feet of water flooded their basement Monday morning. He says six neighbors were evacuated as a precaution.
In Anne Arundel County, fire department Capt. James Rostec says crews helped move five people to dry land when two vehicles got stuck in 18 inches of water on Belgrove Road. He says crews responded to two reports flooded basements in Brooklyn area homes, but no evacuations were necessary.
Amtrak and MARC suspended service south of Baltimore briefly when a section of tracks was covered in more than a foot of water.
