Driver causes accident in Frederick County, flees on foot

WASHINGTON — A driver in Frederick County fled on foot after he caused an accident Sunday evening.

Maryland State Police responded to the area of westbound Interstate 70 and exit 53 for a motor vehicle collision.

Once they arrived, troopers found a 2003 Ford Explorer being driven by James Robert Wilson III struck an Oldsmobile passenger vehicle and overturned on the left shoulder.

Wilson fled the scene on foot. Two of the Explorer’s remaining three passengers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The occupants of the Oldsmobile weren’t hurt.
