Frederick man charged for hitting cop with his car

WASHINGTON — The driver of a vehicle who struck a Frederick police officer with his car on Saturday has been charged with several motor vehicle violations and felony possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute.

A warrant has been obtained for Roy Turner, 45, of Frederick, Maryland.

Turner is still being treated at Baltimore Shock Trauma for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the officer-involved shooting. He was shot in the arm during a traffic stop; the officer fired his weapon at Turner after the man struck the officer with his car.

Turner fled the scene. Officers pursued him and stopped his car in the area of Baughmans Lane and Shookstown Road.

Turner was taken into custody at the time without incident. He and the officer were transported to area hospitals “for medical treatment of injuries sustained during this incident,” police said.
