Joggers attacked by man in Frederick County park, suspect at large

WALKERSVILLE, Md — Authorities in Frederick County, Md., are trying to track down a man who reportedly attacked two women who were jogging in a park Sunday afternoon.

The women, a 37-year-old and a 50-year-old, were on a trail at Walkersville Community Park when the suspect approached them from behind and in an attempt to sexually assault them, according to Maryland State Police.

The man grabbed the younger victim from behind and tried to pull her pants down. The other woman fought to get the suspect off the younger victim, according to police.

The older woman called 911 and was assaulted by the suspect, police say.

Frederick County officials at about 3:30 p.m., but by the time they arrived, the man was gone.

Sheriff’s deputies along with Maryland State Police formed a perimeter around the area and launched extensive search efforts, but they were unable to find the suspect.

Neither victim complained of pain or serious injury from the assault, police say. Both refused medical treatment.

The man is described as an African American man about 18 to 20 years old. He is between 5 foot, 6 inches tall and 5 foot, 8 inches tall with a thin build. He has a dark complexion with a very short, even-cut hair style and little to no facial hair, according to police. At the time of the offense, the man wore light khaki cargo shorts with a long-sleeved gray shirt with black block-style lettering on it.
