HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Washington County prosecutors say they have dropped a murder charge in the 2012 slaying in Hagerstown of a man from neighboring Frederick County.
Assistant State's Attorney Viki Pauler told The Herald-Mail (http://bit.ly/IoA7FT ) Tuesday that the investigation into the death of Antonio Joyner of Walkersville is continuing. She wouldn't say why prosecutors decided not to prosecute 19-year-old Marcus Longus for the slaying.
Joyner was fatally shot June 24, 2012, during a birthday party in a Hagerstown home.
Longus was sentenced Monday in Hagerstown to 60 days in jail, with another 16 months suspended, after pleading guilty to unrelated charges of methadone possession and driving with a suspended license.
He faces a jury trial next week in Baltimore on drug and handgun charges.
